Part 3 of 3. start at part 1 here. this is the last and final segment of a 3 part essay, i shall elaborate on the actually material costs of many chi fi earphones. a serious note… i have to be extremely careful with what i am about to write because i might make some companies very unhappy or even end up a lawsuit… so, wish me luck!. Chi fi is about quantity, not so much quality. although i must say many chinese products are getting better these days. another good point to take note is you will get the best bang for the buck from “lesser known” brands and products that aren’t depending on reviewers to help push. But that's not the only thing that makes this gear so low cost. with no advertising costs, no distributing costs, no retailer to split profits with, and perhaps most importantly for customers no repair or warranty support, it's easy to see why "chi fi" can seem so inexpensive when compared to u.s. or european union made gear. But i'm feeling like the sub $20 chi fi iem doesn't feel far inferior in sound to like $50 iem. the build quality loses by a big margin, though. and like i said, i could just get a new one as it's really cheap (plus there's a local store here that sells few chi fi iems so i wouldn't have to wait for weeks until i can get a replacement).
